(New York) Vancouver Canucks defenseman Quinn Hughes was named the NHL’s first star of the week after collecting eight points in his last three games.
Hughes had a goal and seven assists for the Canucks, who posted three wins and extended their streak of games with at least one ranking point to seven (6-0-1).
The Canucks captain collected most of his points in a crushing 10-1 victory over the San Jose Sharks on Thursday. He scored a goal and had four assists to become the second defenseman in Canucks history to record five points in a single game.
His other three assists came in Tuesday’s 5-2 win over the Nashville Predators.
Los Angeles Kings goaltender Cam Talbot and Anaheim Ducks center Mason McTavish were the other two NHL stars of the week.
