NHL playoffs: Oilers sound the charge and tie the series

Edmonton Oilers forward Leon Draisaitl had another stellar performance, scoring two first-period goals as his team beat the Vegas Golden Knights 5-1 on Saturday at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.

The German became the second player in history to score eight or more goals in his first five playoff road games since Frederick Taylor with the Vancouver Millionaires in 1918.

He brings his total of goals to 13 in eight playoff games.

Connor McDavid also made his mark with a performance of three points, two goals and an assist.

Oilers defenseman Evan Bouchard netted his third of the playoffs on a first-period power play. The native of Oakville, Ontario was also an accomplice twice during the game.

Ivan Barbashev was the only one to trick Oilers goaltender Stuart Skinner when he hit the puck on the fly early in the third period. This is the third success in the series for the former Moncton Wildcats.

Skinner was solid throughout the duel, frustrating Golden Knights attacks 30 times. His vis-à-vis Laurent Brossoit stopped 30 of the 35 shots he faced.

The massive attack of the troop of Jay Woodcroft made pay the indiscipline of Vegas by capitalizing three times in six occasions.

Game 3 of the series is Monday at Rogers Arena in Edmonton beginning at 8:30 p.m.
