NHL playoffs | An impressive flurry of Islanders who win at home

(New York) Authors of four goals in 2: 18 – the shortest time for as many goals in playoff history, the New York Islanders won 5-1 over Carolina on Friday, reducing to 2- 1 the Hurricanes lead in the series.


The nets came from Kyle Palmieri, Matt Martin, Scott Mayfield and Anders Lee, starting at 16:09 in the third period.

Palmieri and Martion scored 44 seconds apart.

Mayfield scored into an empty net, then Lee completed the scoring.

Their teammate Casey Cizikas had scored in the middle period, before a reply from Jesper Fast. The latter threaded the needle in inferiority.

Winning keeper Ilya Sorokin made 30 saves, two less than Antti Raanta.

Game 4 is Sunday at 1 p.m. at UBS Arena.

The place was inaugurated in the fall of 2021.

Carolina was limited to three shots on three power plays over 11½ minutes from the end of the first period to the middle of the second period.
