In the end, Patrice Bergeron decided that it was not a good idea to move.

According to what François Gagnon of RDS reports, the Quebec striker has chosen to stay where he has been since the beginning of his career in the National League, in 2003: in Boston. The contract would be formalized shortly.
Bergeron underwent surgery at the start of June to treat a tendon injury in his left elbow, an operation that seemed increasingly inevitable. If all goes well, the Bruins captain should need 10 to 12 weeks to recover from this surgery.
Thus, he could aim for a return to the ice around August, to begin his 19e season in the NHL.
Bergeron won the Selke Trophy at the end of the season, awarded annually to the defensive forward of the year in the NHL, for the fifth time in his career.
Bergeron, who turns 37 on July 24, signed last season the final year of an eight-year contract worth $55 million in total.
In 2021-2022, he took part in 73 games, while recording 25 goals and 40 assists, for a total of 65 points. He had his best campaign in the 2018-2019 season, when he was able to amass a total of 79 points.
