NHL | Pat Maroon responds to handler who made fun of him

Tampa Bay Lightning forward Pat Maroon donated $2,000 to an organization that helps those with mental health issues on Wednesday after a commentator mocked his appearance on air.

The situation arose Tuesday, midway through the first period of the game between the Lightning and the Boston Bruins at TD Garden. As the game was on, New England Sports Network (NESN) handler Jack Edwards made a remark about Maroon being listed at 238 lbs in official NHL documents.

“It was day 1 of training camp. I have a feeling he’s eaten a few more pizzas since,” he said with a laugh.

As the analyst next to him laughed too, Edwards added, “Intermittent fasting, for Pat Maroon, is about four hours without eating. But hey! [Il a gagné] three Cups [Stanley] in a row. Who can argue against his formula? »

The day after the game, Maroon announced on his social media that he was, “in the name of Jack Edwards”, donating $2,000 to the Tampa Bay Thrives, an organization that helps people with mental health issues and of consumption.

“I encourage Tampa Bay Lightning fans as well as the NHL to join me,” he added.

Lightning captain Steven Stamkos shared his teammate’s lead just four minutes later. “Well done, Patty…I’m giving now!” he wrote.
