NHL | Oilers send Ryan McLeod and Tyler Tullio to Sabres for Matthew Savoie

(Edmonton) The Edmonton Oilers sent forward Ryan McLeod and minor leaguer Tyler Tullio to the Buffalo Sabres for prospect Matthew Savoie on Friday.

McLeod, 24, set career highs last season with 12 goals and 30 points in 81 games. The speedy skater added four goals in 24 playoff games, including three in the Stanley Cup Final.

Savoie, 20, was the Sabres’ first selection – ninth overall – in the 2022 National Hockey League draft.

In 2023-24, he played for the Sabres and their farm club, the Rochester Americans of the American Hockey League (AHL), but also for the Wenatchee Wild of the Western Junior Hockey League (WHL) before finishing the campaign with the Moose Jaw Warriors.

He scored 19 goals and added 28 assists for 47 points in 23 games this season with the Warriors before scoring 10 times and collecting 24 points in the playoffs to help the team win the WHL title.

Tullio, a 22-year-old right winger, played the last two seasons with the AHL’s Bakersfield Condors. He scored nine goals and 21 points in 54 games last season.

The Sabres also announced that they have signed defenseman Henri Jokiharju to a one-year, $3.1 million contract.

Drafted in the first round by the Chicago Blackhawks in 2017, Jokiharju has played the last five seasons with the Sabres. In 2023-24, he has lit the red light three times and recorded 20 points in 74 games.
