(New York) Edmonton Oilers center Connor McDavid, Boston Bruins winger David Pastrnak and Florida Panthers winger Matthew Tkachuk have been named finalists for the Hart Trophy, an annual most valuable player of the NHL.
The 26-year-old McDavid led the league with 64 goals and 153 points this season, becoming the sixth player in NHL history to reach 150 points in a single season.
McDavid, a native of Richmond Hill, Ont., is chasing a third Hart Trophy.
Pastrnak finished second in the NHL with 61 goals, as well as third with 113 points, as his team had the best season in league history.
Tkachuk scored 40 goals and 109 points, in addition to establishing himself as one of the best all-round forwards in the league in his first season with the Panthers.
Maple Leafs forward Auston Matthews won the honor last season.
