According to TSN reporter Darren Dreger, the Vegas Golden Knights traded Pacioretty and Dylan Coghlan to Carolina in return for future considerations.
No wages are retained in the exchange. The Golden Knights had no choice but to make such a move to meet the salary cap.
One year remains on the four-year, $28 million contract with Pacioretty (7 million annual salary), who had 19 goals and 18 assists in 39 games last season.
Recall that the Golden Knights acquired the Canadian in 2018, in return for Nick Suzuki, Tomas Tatar and a second-round pick. Four years later, they have to trade it for… nothing.
