A few sources, including Sportsnet network reporter Elliotte Friedman, reported the news of the trade. Details of the transaction remain to be determined.

Eller will join Artturi Lehkonen in Denver. The Dane lifted the Stanley Cup with the “Caps” in the spring of 2018, but the collective successes are not at the rendezvous in Washington this year. The organization has already traded Dmitry Orlov and Garnet Hathaway to the Boston Bruins, as well as Marcus Johansson to the Minnesota Wild and Erik Gustafsson to the Toronto Maple Leafs. Alexander Ovechkin’s club ranks 13th in the National Hockey League Eastern Conference.

In 2022-23, Eller had seven goals and nine assists for 16 points in 60 games. His harvest is far from his career best: in 2018-2019, he scored 39 points in 69 games. The veteran will become an unrestricted free agent next summer as he completes a five-year, $17.5 million contract.
