This is what the team announced, a day after the opening of the free agent market in the National Hockey League (NHL).
Mete has played 51 games in a “Sens” uniform in the last two campaigns. He had one goal and eight assists for nine points with that team.
The Ottawa club had made its acquisition after the Montreal Canadiens put its name on waivers in April 2021. The 24-year-old rear had been a fourth-round choice (100th overall) from the CH in the 2016 draft.
Well too
Mete isn’t the only former Habs to sign a one-year contract with the Leafs on Thursday. Indeed, defender Jordie Benn has also agreed with the formation of the Queen City.
This is Benn’s sixth NHL team, having also worked for the Dallas Stars, Vancouver Canucks, Winnipeg Jets and Minnesota Wild. The 34-year-old veteran played just over two seasons with the Canadiens, from 2017 to 2019.
Last year, with the Wild, he had one goal and seven assists for eight points in 39 games.
