Former National Hockey League (NHL) head coach Bob McCammon has died aged 80, it was announced Thursday.

Between 1978 and 1991, McCammon led eight seasons in the NHL: half with the Philadelphia Flyers and the other with the Vancouver Canucks. He posted a career record of 221-224-67, being a finalist for the Jack-Adams Trophy in 1988-1989. That year, Pat Burns of the Montreal Canadiens won.
The Ontarian also served as general manager for the Flyers in 1983-84 and director of player development for the Edmonton Oilers in 1986-87.
Also, he was a recruiter for the Detroit Red Wings, contributing to the Stanley Cups obtained by this organization in the spring of 2002 and 2008.
