NHL | Andrew Mangiapane moves from Flames to Capitals

(Calgary) The Calgary Flames traded forward Andrew Mangiapane to the Washington Capitals for a second-round selection in next year’s draft on Thursday.

Mangiapane scored 14 goals and totaled 40 points in 75 games last season.

“The transaction gives us another asset in connection with the upcoming selection sessions, the importance of which we have already emphasized for our future,” Flames general manager Craig Conroy said in a statement.

“We also gain greater room for maneuver in relation to the salary cap and the composition of the team, from 1er July. »

Mangiapane has 109 goals and 215 points in 417 career games.

He was drafted in the sixth round in 2015 by Calgary. Of the players selected in the final four rounds that year, he appeared in the most NHL games.

Mangiapane set career highs with 35 goals and 55 points in 2021-22.

This is the second major trade for the Capitals in eight days.

On June 19, they acquired Quebec forward Pierre-Luc Dubois from the Los Angeles Kings, in exchange for goaltender Darcy Kuemper.
