NHL | A vote by governors Thursday to approve the sale of the Coyotes

We are getting closer and closer to confirmation: NHL governors will meet Thursday to approve the sale — and relocation — of the Coyotes from Arizona to Utah.

This was revealed by informant Elliotte Friedman on Wednesday evening on X. The journalist indicates that the vote will be held at 3 p.m. Eastern time.

This formality should confirm that the Coyotes will move from owner Alex Meruelo to that of the Utah Jazz, Ryan Smith.

The latter has been campaigning to have an NHL team in Salt Lake City for several months. He would acquire it for $1.2 billion.

The Coyotes’ very last anticipated game in Arizona takes place this Wednesday evening, against the Edmonton Oilers, at Mullett Arena in Tempe, the smallest venue on the Bettman circuit.
