Head coach Joe Judge confirmed Jones’ absence on Friday after team medics informed him his young quarterback had not been given the go-ahead to be kicked.

“I know it’s frustrating for him, but I think it’s the best for him,” Judge said of Jones.

Judge declined to go into details about the injury. He said the decision only affected Sunday’s game, but was unable to say when Jones will get the green light.

Veteran Mike Glennon will be the Giants starter (4-7). During a half, on October 10 against the Dallas Cowboys, he replaced Jones who had suffered a concussion.

He had completed 16 passes in 25 attempts for gains of 196 yards, one touchdown and two interceptions.

This will be his first start with the Giants.

Late last season, Glennon started five games with the Jacksonville Jaguars. He had 111 of his 179 passes for 1,072 yards, with seven touchdowns and five interceptions.

Jake Fromm, who the Giants hired as part of the Buffalo Bills practice squad, will serve as the reserve.

Fromm has never been to an NFL game before.

Jones, who has started every Giants game this season, was injured last Sunday against the Philadelphia Eagles.

Jones, the sixth player claimed in the 2019 draft, trained at a limited pace on Wednesday and Thursday.
