Fears over the condition of the star player’s right leg marked the team’s preparation for the most important duel of the year. Mahomes suffered a sprain in the playoff game against the Jacksonville Jaguars before dealing with the pain in the NFL’s American Conference Finals against the Cincinnati Bengals on Jan. 29.

The 27-year-old quarterback and the Chiefs have spoken of steady progress over the past few days, but the MVP contender still has to submit to hours-long treatments daily.

“I don’t think we will be fixed before the day of the match, admitted Mahomes in a press briefing, according to the ESPN network, on Wednesday. I actually feel better. I can move better than last week or the week before. I try to continue to receive treatments to get as close as possible to 100% [de santé] and then to rely on adrenaline to allow me to do a little more on the field.

That’s also what head coach Andy Reid noticed. According to the Chiefs pilot, his playmaker can do everything on the grass surface, Sunday against the Philadelphia Eagles.

“His ankle is fine. We had a short practice a few days ago and he was moving well. He can do just about anything, at least everything we asked him to do in the game plan,” he revealed.

Let’s hope for Mahomes that he regains full mobility, since the Eagles have one of the toughest defensive units in the NFL. They had 70 quarterback sacks in the regular season, 15 more than the second-ranked Chiefs.
