(Seattle) Rookie Brock Purdy threw a pair of touchdown passes to George Kittle and the 49ers San Francisco won their first division title since 2019 by beating the Seattle Seahawks 21-13 on Thursday.
Despite using their third starting quarterback this season, the 49ers (10-4) continued to show they could be National Conference favorites alongside the Philadelphia Eagles. The 49ersthe Nationals West Division champions, picked up their seventh straight victory by using their excellent defense to force the Seahawks into making numerous mistakes.
The 49ers enjoyed a handful of big plays from their rookie quarterback. Playing on the road for the first time in his career, Purdy had his first 11 pass attempts. Among those was a 28-yard touchdown for Kittle in the first quarter, when he executed two fakes before spotting his tight end.
Purdy and Kittle joined forces again early in the second half, when the Seahawks defense missed coverage and left Kittle open for a 54-yard major. That touchdown gave a 21-3 lead for 49ers.
Purdy found takers on 17 of 26 passes for 217 yards.
Kittle caught four balls for 93 yards and Christian McCaffrey rushed for 108 yards, including a one-yard rush for a major in the final minute of the first half after a Seahawks turnover.
The Seahawks (7-7) lost for the fourth time in five games and their playoff hopes were doomed yet again. Geno Smith had 238 passing yards and threw a touchdown pass for Noah Fant.
