(Los Angeles) Quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo has agreed with the Los Angeles Rams.
Garoppolo will therefore support Matthew Stafford as the team’s second quarterback.
Safety guard Kamren Curl also signed with the Rams on Friday, signing a two-year contract.
Garoppolo was released by the Las Vegas Raiders on Wednesday following a disappointing season.
Garoppolo is best known to Rams fans because of his years with the 49ers of San Francisco, rivals of the Rams. The quarterback played for the 49ers from 2017 to 2022 and was 8-0 as starting quarterback in the regular season against his new team.
Garoppolo made six starts last season for the Raiders, before being benched mid-season. He threw nine interceptions and seven touchdown passes in the first year of his three-year, US$72.75 million contract.
With the 49ers, during his best career moments, Garoppolo threw for 13,599 yards, along with 82 touchdown passes and 42 interceptions. The quarterback played six years and made 55 starts with the 49ers and head coach Kyle Shanahan.
Curl’s contract is worth US$8.75 million and could go as high as US$12.75 million. Curl played his first four seasons in the NFL with the Washington Commanders.
The safety had a career high last season with 115 tackles.
