A real three-way race for the Pittsburgh Steelers’ starting quarterback position has been going on since the start of training camp and Mitch Trubisky could well be head coach Mike Tomlin’s right-hand man, given the Pennsylvania’s last preseason game.

Against the Detroit Lions on Sunday at Acrisure Stadium, Trubisky was not only the most used of the three centers, but he was also the most efficient, completing 15 of 19 stints for 160 yards, in addition to passing for a major.
Rookie Kenny Pickett, chosen in the first round (20th overall) of the last amateur auction, for his part found a receiver 10 times out of 14 attempts, for 90 yards. Finally, Mason Rudolph failed in one of his three assists.
The Steelers eventually prevailed 19-9, ending their preseason schedule with an immaculate record of three wins in as many games.
