NFL | Denver Broncos trust offense to rookie quarterback Bo Nix

(Denver) Rookie Bo Nix will be the starting quarterback for the Denver Broncos, team head coach Sean Payton announced Wednesday.

Nix was the 12the draft pick this year after shining with the University of Oregon.

He did well in preseason games against Indianapolis and Green Bay, throwing for 205 yards.

Nix completed 23 of 30 passes for two touchdowns and had no interceptions.

The Broncos have scored on six of the seven drives he has led.

He was selected over veterans Zach Wilson and Jarrett Stidham.

The Broncos haven’t had a rookie starting quarterback since John Elway in 1983.

The Broncos will open the regular season on September 8 at Seattle.

Denver went 8-9 last season, picking up three more wins than it did in the 2022 campaign.
