NFL | Commissioner Roger Goodell wants 16 international games per season

(São Paulo) NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell said Friday he would like to see 16 international games per season in the future.

“The owners have agreed to eight games already,” Goodell said before the first game in the history of the circuit in Brazil. “I hope to reach 16 at some point in the future. Let’s see how it goes.”

Goodell gave an interview to the streaming platform Peacock ahead of Friday’s broadcast of the Green Bay Packers-Philadelphia Eagles game in São Paulo, the NFL’s first game in South America.

Five games are scheduled outside the United States this season, including three in London. Tottenham Hotspur Stadium will host a game between the New York Jets and the Minnesota Vikings on October 6, and another between the Jacksonville Jaguars and the Chicago Bears on October 13.

The Jaguars will also face the New England Patriots on October 20 at Wembley Stadium.

The other international meeting this year will see the New York Giants face off against the Carolina Panthers in Munich on November 10.

The NFL is planning a game in Madrid in 2025, but the date and teams have not been announced.

Owners voted in December to allow the league to hold eight international games each season.
