NFL | Chiefs acquire linebacker Melvin Ingram

The Pittsburgh Steelers traded veteran outside linebacker Melvin Ingram to the Kansas City Chiefs for a sixth-round pick in the 2022 draft.

The two teams announced the news on Tuesday, hours before the deadline to complete transactions in the National Football League.

This exchange will provide much needed help to the Chiefs’ defensive squad, which has been in trouble since the start of the season.

However, Ingram did not appear in the Steelers game against the Cleveland Browns on Sunday. According to Steelers management, Ingram was suffering from a groin injury.

The 32-year-old Ingram spent his first nine seasons with the Los Angeles Chargers before signing a one-year deal with the Steelers in July.

Ingram was used quite frequently early in the season, while TJ Watt and Alex Highsmith treated injuries.

His field presence diminished as the month of October wore on. On October 17 against the Seattle Seahawks, it was only used in 17 games.

In six games with the Steelers, Ingram had a quarterback and 10 tackles.
