NFL | 37 players tested positive for COVID-19 in one day

(Los Angeles) Thirty-seven NFL players contracted COVID-19 on Monday, ESPN reports, making the league the most positive cases in a single day since the start of the pandemic.

Two Los Angeles Rams players, cornerback and attacking halfback Tyler Higbee, were among those who tested positive, and were therefore expected to miss the night’s game against the Arizona Cardinals in Arizona.

Other players who contracted the coronavirus include running back Phillip Lindsay of the Miami Dolphins, wide receiver Cedrick Wilson of the Dallas Cowboys, and wide receiver Josh Gordon of the Kansas City Chiefs.

The NFL Network, the league’s official body, has reported that an employee of the Washington team has tested positive for the Omicron variant. This is the first case in the league. This so-called “level 3” employee is in principle not in contact with the players, coaches or staff of the team.

As of November 17, more than 94% of NFL players have been vaccinated, and nearly 100% of league staff have been vaccinated as well.

According to NFL rules, people who have not been vaccinated and tested positive for COVID-19 must be placed in solitary confinement for 10 days, away from club facilities. Fully vaccinated individuals may return to the team’s facilities if they return two consecutive negative PCR tests, performed at least 24 hours apart, and are asymptomatic for 48 hours.
