A Brazilian magistrate on Monday (3 July) sentenced PSG star Neymar to a fine of 16 million reals (3 million euros) for having built an artificial lake in his mansion in the suburbs of Rio de Janeiro without a permit. environmental. The Mangaratiba City Council imposed a total of four fines on the Parisian striker for “environmental violations in the construction of an artificial lake in the player’s mansion“, said the secretariat of the council in a press release.

The penalties amount to more than 16 million reais“, specifies the press release, an amount fixed by the parquet floor of Mangaratiba, a tourist area located about 130 kilometers from Rio, where the Paris Saint-Germain striker owns this property. Neymar can appeal

Neymar has 20 days to appeal the sanction, the amount of which was initially set at five million reais, or nearly one million euros. On June 22, following complaints filed on social media, authorities had found several environmental violations at the luxury property, where workers were building an artificial lake and beach.

The authorities thus closed the site and ordered the cessation of all activity. The 31-year-old Brazilian international is currently recovering from surgery on his right ankle, which he underwent in March in Doha.
