news for children

The presidential election in Turkey, a workshop against sexism and Yannick Noah’s victory at the Roland Garros tournament 30 years ago: this is the program of “Salut l’info!” this week.

Every week, the podcast “Salut l’info!” tells the news to children aged 7 to 11, a program from franceinfo radio and Astrapi magazine. In each episode, the children take the floor and co-present the program with the journalists. On the microphone this week: Augustine, 7 and a half years old.

The presidential election in Türkiye

This week, the show talks about Turkey where President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has just been re-elected for five years. This is the third time he has won the election after 20 years at the head of the country. “It’s weird because in France it’s usually only twice,” wonders Augustine. Answer in this episode.

The news is also the world summit against plastic pollution in Paris, which took place from May 29 to June 2. With this meeting in Paris, 175 countries around the world are working together to prepare a treaty, an international agreement, aimed at ending plastic pollution before 2040.

A workshop against sexism

“Blue for boys, pink for girls!” These ideas that we too often have in our heads are called clichés, stereotypes, or even “sexist” prejudices. An association, which is called “In the gender equals”, walks in the classes to talk about it, and has even invented a puppet show to facilitate the discussion. Pauline from franceinfo was able to attend the show, and asked the children what they thought of it.

In our section “We tell each other everything”, it is Aristide who speaks. “I have two brothers and they are always the ones who have the best tricks”, he says at the microphone of the show. With the help of our psychologist Nadège, the show gives him advice.

On the “Salut l’info!” answering machine, children can also leave their jokes on 01 47 79 40 00. They may have a chance of getting along on the show, as is the case for three children this week and their inventive and funny jokes.

Good listening !
