News blocking: Zuck Hub in Meta’s sights

It only took Meta two days to detect the ploy behind Zuck Hub which allows the sharing of articles despite the blocking of news on Facebook and Instagram. However, the creator of this tool has more than one trick up his sleeve.

“As expected, Facebook has just blocked Zuck Hub. The response will arrive in the coming hours,” mentioned the satirical page “L’Actualité en memes” in a publication Thursday afternoon.

Quickly, its creator, Maxime Larrivee-Roy, adapted by using a new domain name which is not yet detected by Meta: zuckleplouc. Users just have to continue using the Zuck Hub site which modifies the link to articles from Quebec media so that they are shared on social networks affected by the news blocking.

As a reminder, this is a simple platform created with the aim of allowing the population to have access to journalistic content despite Meta’s response to Bill C-18, which will force web giants to pay part of their advertising revenue to the media.
