Newfoundland and Labrador | “Dicky Berg” ignites social networks

It’s not made up: a man from the small town of Dildo, Newfoundland, photographed a giant phallus-shaped iceberg drifting on the waters of Conception Bay.

Photos posted Thursday by Newfoundland photographer Ken Pretty on social media have set the web ablaze.

“From the shore, you can’t really make out the shape of the iceberg,” Pretty told The Press. But once my drone flew over it, it was easy to see, from above, what it looked like. »

The “Dicky Berg”

When I posted the photos, I knew I would get a lot of comments, but I didn’t expect it to go viral.

The astonishingly shaped piece of ice was quickly dubbed “Dicky berg” by jubilant netizens.

The photos have been shared thousands of times. A video shot from a drone also immortalized this pictorial drift. Ken Pretty shared it on YouTube.

The news found its way into the Newfoundland and Labrador media on Friday, including the regional section of CBC.

Iceberg watching is a tourist activity in this northern region of the country. It remains to be seen whether it will resist the mild spring weather long enough to satisfy tourists.
