Newcomer Tony Bauer from Supertalent Shares His Admiration for Bad Cop Dieter Bohlen

Tony Bauer, at 29, joins the jury of RTL’s ‘Supertalent,’ reflecting on his childhood memories of the show. Balancing the pressure of judging with his passion for performance, he connects with contestants and offers constructive feedback. Despite living with short bowel syndrome, he manages his needs effectively. As he approaches his 30th birthday, Bauer cherishes his newfound fame while staying grounded in his hometown and continues to evolve his solo show, hinting at incorporating his ‘Supertalent’ experiences.

Meet Tony Bauer: The New ‘Supertalent’ Jury Member

At just 29, Tony Bauer is the fresh face joining the esteemed jury of RTL’s popular talent show, ‘Supertalent.’ The new season kicks off on Saturday, April 5, at 8:15 PM on RTL, with an early release on RTL+. Alongside the legendary Dieter Bohlen, Bruce Darnell, and Ekaterina Leonova, Tony reflects on his childhood memories of watching the show with his grandma, expressing, “When I got the call, I was as nervous as a kid!” Having previously captivated audiences as a contestant on ‘Let’s Dance,’ Tony admits he never anticipated being in a position to judge acts alongside such established figures. “I couldn’t have dreamed of this opportunity,” he shares in a recent interview.

Balancing Pressure and Passion

Despite his experience on ‘Let’s Dance,’ Tony finds the pressure of being a juror on ‘Supertalent’ to be a different ball game. “On ‘Let’s Dance,’ you have a brief moment to shine, but on ‘Supertalent,’ it feels like you are under constant scrutiny,” he explains. The long shooting days, lasting up to ten hours, require intense concentration, a challenge he initially underestimated. “I thought it would be all fun, but after the first two acts, I quickly learned the ropes,” he admits.

Living with short bowel syndrome and relying on artificial nutrition, Tony reveals that his condition did not hinder his performance. “We wrapped up early each day, allowing me to manage my needs without issue,” he notes. He describes his fellow jurors, particularly Dieter, as “misunderstood,” emphasizing Dieter’s straightforwardness. “Dieter tells it like it is without sugarcoating,” he says, adding that many misinterpret his bluntness. In contrast, he describes Ekaterina as the “good cop” of the panel, while Bruce remains intriguingly reserved yet engaged.

Connecting with talents is essential for Tony, as he strives to ease their nerves during performances. “I nod and smile to encourage them, as it takes immense courage to perform in front of us,” he shares. He is particularly fascinated by those who showcase unique talents, saying, “The dedication to niche skills is incredible. One artist walked over bottles and made figures—it’s mind-blowing!”

Offering constructive feedback comes naturally to Tony. “If something isn’t good, the performers usually know it too. Sometimes, a direct approach is more beneficial,” he explains. Following his positive experiences on the show, he expresses enthusiasm for potential future jury roles. “If they ask me again, I would love to join,” he states, although he hopes for a return to live shows, believing the energy of a live audience enhances the experience.

Looking Ahead: Tony Bauer Turns 30

Since his early exit from ‘Let’s Dance’ due to health reasons, Tony has gained widespread recognition. “It’s surreal—going from obscurity to fame overnight,” he reflects, cherishing every moment. Despite his new status, he maintains his grounded personality, thanks in part to his hometown of Duisburg. “Staying here keeps me connected and grounded,” he asserts. His friendship with dance partner Anastasia Stan remains strong, with Tony cheering for her success on ‘Let’s Dance.’

Currently, he is on tour with his solo show, ‘Fallschirmspringer,’ which he continually evolves with fresh material. “I hope to engage more audiences and keep the content exciting,” he remarks, hinting that stories from his ‘Supertalent’ experience may make it into his act. As he approaches a significant milestone—turning 30 in October—Tony admits, “I still feel like a teenager. I’m excited about what’s next and hope that the transition into my 30s will be smooth.” With a bright future ahead, Tony Bauer is poised to make a lasting impact in the entertainment world.
