Hydro-Québec received the green light on Thursday from authorities in New York State to export its electricity to the American metropolis.
On her Twitter account, New York State Governor Kathy Hochul made the announcement in these terms: “This is a historic day for the future of clean energy in New York. [Les autorités new-yorkaises ont] approved two contracts to supply renewable energy to New York! »
These “will create 10,000 high-quality jobs” and are a step towards achieving carbon neutrality by 2040, she added.
The tweet was immediately picked up by the Minister of Energy and Natural Resources, Jonatan Julien, who called the announcement “great news”, indicating that a “major milestone in this project has now been completed”.
