New York changes gear in the fight against Covid-19. The mayor of “Big Apple”, Bill de Blasio, announced on Monday, December 6, that all employees in the private sector would be subject to a compulsory vaccination against the coronavirus as of December 27. “Here in New York, we have decided to launch a pre-emptive attack (against the coronavirus) to really do something daring to stop the progression of the Covid and the dangers it poses to all of us”, announced the Democratic mayor on the American channel MSNBC (in English).
In addition to this measure, Bill de Blasio clarified on Twitter that a vaccination pass will be requested for indoor meals and entertainment for children aged 5 to 11. Finally, the “New Yorkers aged 12 and over will need to show proof that they have received two doses of the vaccine [à l’exception de ceux ayant reçu le vaccin unidose de Johnson & Johnson]“, added the mayor, who will leave his post on December 31 to be replaced by Eric Adams, elected on November 2.
