New York Giants | Season over for quarterback Daniel Jones

(East Rutherford) New York Giants quarterback Daniel Jones will miss the remainder of the season with a torn anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee.

Coach Brian Daboll said an MRI test revealed the nature of the injury Monday. Jones will need surgery.

The sixth overall pick in the 2019 draft, Jones was back in the lineup Sunday in Las Vegas after missing three games with a neck injury.

He was injured on the last play of the first quarter, during a non-contact sequence. He was looking for a target for a long pass when his right knee gave way.

Jones was examined in the medical tent, ran a bit and convinced the decision-makers that he could stay in the game.

On the first play of the second quarter, his knee gave out again. He ultimately left a game won 30-6 by the Raiders.

Tommy DeVito replaced him for the rest of the game.

Reserve Tyrod Taylor will miss three games with a ribcage injury, while the Giants’ other quarterback is veteran Matt Barkley.

Daboll will discuss the quarterback position with team general manager Joe Schoen.

The Giants will face Dallas on Sunday in Arlington.

The Cowboys beat the Giants 40-0 in the season opener at MetLife Stadium.

DeVito completed 15 of 20 passes for 175 yards, with one touchdown and two interceptions.

He made his NFL debut the previous week against the Jets, after Taylor was injured.

The Giants are 2-7, while the Cowboys are 5-3.
