On Wednesday, October 27, the United States will again attempt to obtain the extradition of whistleblower Julian Assange.
Whistleblower Julian Assange is expected in court again. For eleven years, the Australian has been living a nightmare for having unveiled documents classified as a defense secret. On Wednesday, October 27, the United States will once again try to obtain his extradition. As a reminder, previous requests had been rejected due in particular to his state of health.
“This is one of the last cards from the United States to obtain the extradition of Julian Assange”, notes Matthieu Boisseau, live from London (United Kingdom) for France Télévisions, who details: “This hearing, today and tomorrow, is taking place on British soil because that is where Julian Assange took refuge. He has now been imprisoned there since 2019.” Julian Assange is being prosecuted for distributing hundreds of thousands of classified documents on torture in the American prison of Guantánamo, on the spying of environmental activists or on the death of civilians in Iraq, Syria and Afghanistan because of the American intervention.
