“We have been working on this project for three years. This event was originally scheduled to launch in August 2019. We were ready to call in the media to break this news when the pandemic hit. He has since been given a lot of love. The event has grown and matured,” noted Martin Tremblay, Chief Operating Officer of the Sports and Entertainment Group of Quebecor and Gestev, during the unveiling of the program.

KALEO

Music, food, beach

Cigale, he said, can be summed up in three words. Music. Food. Beach. Two days in California with the warmth of a summer day, fun and music. A beach vacation vibe. The event will return every year.

There will be street trucks on site with burgers, seafood, pizza and fish tacos. There will also be ready-to-drink and microbrewery beers. It will be possible to put your feet in the water, paddle board and play volleyball.

“We are lucky to have a beach five minutes from downtown. The idea was to highlight this place. Life hasn’t been hectic for the past two years and we all need human contact and seeing friends. It is an event with its own signature,” he added.

intimate

Dominique Goulet, director of programming, explains that these small-scale events, called “boutique” festivals, are growing in size. A maximum of 10,000 people will be accepted on site.

“People appreciate more intimate events,” she said, adding that Portugal. The Man, City and Color and The Franklin Electric were scheduled to attend the premiere in 2019.

Dominique Goulet has a crush on the Californian band Fitz and the Tantrums, which has already performed at Coachella, Bonnaroo and Lollapalooza.

“It’s my little favorite for the summer of 2022. It’s moving. When I mentioned this name, during my steps for programming, everyone told me that it was a very good move, ”she said.

There is no question of selling single tickets for Saturday and Sunday.

“We want people to live this experience over a weekend. That’s the idea behind this festival,” pointed out Martin Tremblay.
