Air Transat stands out among the best airlines in the world, according to a survey by Protect yourself unveiled Tuesday.
Air carriers Emirates and Qatar Airways qualified at the top of the rankings with satisfaction rates of 83% and 79%, respectively. For its part, Air Transat ranked third in the rankings with a score of 78%, just like the company Swiss. Finally, the Finnish company Finnair came in fourth place.
The study was carried out in partnership with International Consumer Research and Testing among 11,880 consumers from 11 countries, including more than 700 Canadians.
Among the evaluation criteria, respondents had to take into consideration punctuality, check-in procedure, in-flight food and seat comfort.
At the bottom of the ranking, Air Canada and Sunwing achieved a satisfaction rate of 61%. In the case of Sunwing, punctuality and seat comfort represent the company’s main weaknesses. During the period of the investigation, only 45% of its flights reached their destination at the announced arrival time, according to data from the Official Airline Guide.
At Air Canada, this percentage represented barely 55% compared to 75% for the carriers Emirates, Qatar Airways, Finnair and American Airlines.
The only Canadian company at the top of the list, Air Transat is a good student in terms of the price of its tickets, the courtesy of the staff and the space for cabin baggage.
For its part, Air Canada Rouge ranked in the middle of the pack with a score of 69%. The check-in and boarding procedure was particularly appreciated by respondents.
At the end of the survey, the comfort of the seats and the quality-price ratio of the food proved to be major inconveniences for travelers.
