At the start of the new Formula 1 season, which begins in three weeks, the French driver of Alpine F1 Team spoke about his first impressions in Stage 2 on Sunday.
After having tasted the intoxication of victory last season, during the Hungarian Grand Prix, Esteban Ocon wants to experience these sensations again. The new regulations, with in particular “cars heavier by 40 kilos”, could certainly reshuffle the cards. One thing is certain, however, “there will be more shows for the fans”.
And the first laps of the new Alpine are, for the French driver, quite encouraging. “Everything went well, even if we are not yet looking for pure performance”, he specifies. The Norman, who proudly defends the brand’s original blue, intends to fight on equal terms with his teammate Fernando Alonso again this season. (“A great champion”) to ultimately achieve its ambition: “To become world champion”.
