Several hundred people gathered on Thursday June 20 in Paris at the call of several associations, including SOS Racisme and the Women’s Foundation, to denounce anti-Semitism after the rape and violence denounced by a young Jewish girl aged 12. years in Courbevoie (Hauts-de-Seine).

Theset “an anti-Semitic crime that chills our blood”declared Dominique Sopo, president of SOS Racisme during this gathering organized at Place de la Bastille. “This anti-Semitic rape is the symptom of two hatreds which combine. A rise in anti-Semitism in France since October 7” but “this is not the only hate speech that explodes in our society”, declared Anne-Cécile Mailfert, president of the women’s foundation. The activist pointed out a “rape culture in which young people are more inclined to subscribe” because they are “fed with pornography”.

“Anti-Semitism is everywhere. Racism is everywhere. Sexism is everywhere”, lamented Arié Alimi, vice-president of the Human Rights League (LDH) and lawyer known in particular for his fight against police violence. He stressed the duty to “remain united in the face of the significant risk of seeing the heirs of Vichy take power and establish a racist, anti-Semitic and sexist policy” in reference to the RN. He further deplored “hearing anti-Semitic speeches which also come from some of those who call themselves left-wing”.
