New quarter, same result for the Saints

The New Orleans Saints could count on quarterback Taysom Hill returning Thursday night to the Dallas Cowboys, but they couldn’t avoid a fifth straight loss, this time by a score of 27-17, in the Mercedes-Benz Superdome.

As his team trailed 10 points and tried to start a comeback in the fourth quarter, Hill threw straight into the hands of Carlos Watkins, who ran for 29 yards for a touchdown.

The pivot, who missed two games with a foot injury, recovered moments later when he found Deonte Harris on a 70-yard play for the major. It was however too little too late for the Saints (5-7).

Hill was ultimately the victim of four thefts, only being able to complete 19 of his 41 air deliveries. With Jameis Winston’s season long overdue and Trevor Siemian’s woes, the situation in the team’s quarterbacks is more blurry than ever.

Dax Prescott was effective for the Cowboys (8-4) with 26 successful passes on 40 attempts, for gains of 238 yards and a touchdown. Tony Pollard also helped him on the offense with a long 58-yard run that ended in the pay zone.
