The French are more and more numerous to favor fresh and local products. But buying direct from producers is not always easy. To meet consumer demands and better remunerate farmers, the “Bienvenue à la ferme” network offers short circuit stores.

In a store in Craon, in Mayenne, consumers can buy seasonal vegetables and artisanal drinks. In this establishment, everything is produced a few kilometers away. “We buy products directly from producers“, indicates Céline Marsollier, manager of the Le Champ des Saveurs store. This professional opened this store in March 2021. It is the first in France to be labeled” Bienvenue à la ferme “, a network of producers’ stores created by the chambers of agriculture.

Here, you can find everything, organic and non-organic, but it’s still sustainable agriculture, it’s good“, comments a consumer.”We are more confident about the product“, continues another. In total, 95 farmers supply this store each week, like Brice Marsollier, who is preparing his next delivery of leeks.”Customers wait to see where the product comes from and what they have on their plate“, observes the market gardener. He will sell his leeks 25% more expensive than in supermarkets. Selling in short circuits is the assurance of fair remuneration for farmers.”This is a very important gain since we do away with the intermediaries“, underlines Stéphane Guoullier, president of the chamber of agriculture of Mayenne. In France, 8,000 farmers already subscribe to the brand.
