Although it won’t be launched until June 4 — but premiered at the Cannes Film Festival — the series The Idol has already caused much ink to flow.
An article from Rolling Stonespublished on 1er March, reported that filming was difficult in several ways. A tight budget and schedule, sudden drastic changes and questionable artistic choices were among other things deplored by 13 members of the production.
Series lead actress Lily-Rose Depp, who plays pop singer Jocelyn, has shown her support for series creators Abel Tesfaye, aka The Weeknd, Reza Fahim and Sam Levinson. The latter, who is also the creator ofEuphoriatook over from director Amy Seimetz, who left the ship following script changes.
This new trailer, which uses the song Gimme More by Britney Spears, shows the characters of Lily-Rose Depp and The Weeknd evolving into an oversized version of the world of popular music.
