The Ukrainian Air Force reported a new nighttime attack by Russian drones on Monday, December 25. The missiles targeted the southern regions of Odessa, Kherson, Mykolaiv, the eastern region of Donetsk and the western region of Khmelnytsky, Ukrainian forces said on Telegram. The Ukrainian military claimed to have shot down 28 of these 31 Iranian-made Shahed drones.

In Odessa, a large Black Sea port, debris from a downed drone damaged port premises and buildings. They also hit an out-of-service administrative building and a warehouse, causing a fire “quickly extinguished”, said the southern command of the Ukrainian army. No casualties have been reported, according to her.

“During the air attack, the enemy also launched a Kh-59 guided air missile in the direction of Zaporizhzhia (south) and a Kh-31P anti-radar missile from the waters of the Black Sea. Both were shot down.” , added the Air Force.

Russia regularly targets Ukrainian cities using drones and missiles, most of which are usually shot down by Ukrainian air defenses.

Ukraine, for its part, regularly bombs Russian border regions or cities under Russian occupation such as Donetsk. Several drones have also targeted the Russian capital, Moscow, over the past year.
