(Newark) New Jersey Devils star forward Jack Hughes will miss the rest of the season as he will have shoulder surgery this week.
The Devils made the announcement Tuesday, less than two hours before a duel against the Toronto Maple Leafs. This will be the penultimate home game of the season for the Devils.
Hughes, who scored 27 goals and totaled 74 points in 62 games this season, will undergo surgery on Wednesday by the Dr Peter Millett in Vail, Colorado.
“During recent conversations with Jack, his family and his representatives, it has been determined that Jack should be held out of action for the remainder of this season in order to undergo shoulder surgery,” he said. we read in a press release.
Hughes injured his shoulder on January 5 against the Chicago Blackhawks, then returned to action on February 8. He was injured again Sunday against the Nashville Predators.
