New Jersey Devils | Knee injury ends Jack Hughes’ season

(Newark) The New Jersey Devils will be without leading scorer Jack Hughes for the rest of the season with a left knee injury.

The team made the announcement Tuesday, between the first and second periods of the game against the New York Rangers. Hugues was the very first pick in the 2019 draft.

The young forward was injured in the second period of Sunday’s game against the New York Islanders when he was hit down the ramp by Oliver Wahlstrom. A medical examination revealed that Hughes suffered from a slight sprain in his left knee.

Due to this injury, he will miss the remainder of the season and will now begin a process of recovery and fitness.

The Devils will not make the playoffs. They occupy the 15and rank of the Eastern Association, ahead of the Montreal Canadiens.

Hughes had his best season so far in the National Hockey League with 26 goals and 30 assists for a total of 56 points in 49 games. He notably tallied 15 goals and 15 assists since the 1er last February.
