(Calgary) The Calgary Flames have traded goaltender Jacob Markstrom to the New Jersey Devils.
In return, the Flames obtain defenseman Kevin Bahl and a first-round pick in 2025 as compensation. The pick is, however, protected if he ever finds himself among the top 10.
Additionally, the Flames retain 31% of Markstrom’s salary. The latter is still under contract for two seasons with an impact of 6 million US dollars on the payroll.
The Devils were looking for a top goaltender and Markstrom’s name had been coming up in trade rumors for some time. The 34-year-old Swede should pair up with veteran Jake Allen next season.
