(Boston) Devils defenseman Dougie Hamilton is scheduled to undergo surgery Wednesday for a broken jaw.
He was hit in the face by a shot from Justin Schultz on Sunday afternoon in Washington.
The 28-year-old Hamilton signed a seven-year, $ 63 million contract with the Devils last summer.
This season, he leads their defenders with 20 points, including seven goals, in 30 games.
The team also announced that Jonathan Bernier will no longer play this season, the result of right hip surgery.
He was 4-4-1 with a 3.06 GAA.
In preparation for a game in Boston, Pavel Zacha and Yegor Sharangovich have been sidelined in connection with the COVID-19 protocol.
New Jersey will look for a fourth straight win, while the Bruins will be looking for a third straight win.
