With this fifth wave, the Omicron variant is added to the Delta variant, and the risk is doubled: health and economic. In order not to bring the country to a standstill, new rules are coming into force.

It has become a ritual: every morning, Sofiane Mediene, owner of a home help agency, counts the absentees. Two patients today, last week it was necessary to do with 14 less employees out of 60, a puzzle. So reducing the length of isolation for patients is good news for the boss: “It’s a relief, we will be able to resume services as quickly as possible”.

Whatever the variant, positive people will now have to isolate themselves for 7 to 10 days, instead of 10 to 17 days. For fully vaccinated contact cases, quarantine is no longer mandatory with a PCR or antigen test, and a self-test should be performed on the second or fourth day. Unvaccinated individuals should undergo in isolation for 7 days with PCR testing at the end. The Federal Secretary of the CGT Health Patrick Bourdillon judges these new rules “inappropriate and paradoxical”. To limit contamination, a minimum of three days of teleworking is required per week
