(Los Angeles) Several feature films related to Lord of the Rings are in the works, Warner Bros., the Hollywood studio that previously produced Peter Jackson’s hit trilogy, announced Thursday.
The boss of Warner Bros Discovery, David Zaslav, announced during a call for investors the signing of an agreement to produce several films around the masterpiece of JRR Tolkien.
” Lord of the Rings is one of the greatest franchises of all time, we can’t wait,” he said.
New Zealand director Peter Jackson said in a statement to AFP that he was “kept informed at all stages” of production.
No details were given on the content of the films or the schedule for their release.
The Amazon competitor broadcast in 2022 the first season (out of five expected) of a series also adapted from the world of Tolkien, The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power.
After the immense triumph – critical and popular – of the films of Peter Jackson in the early 2000s, the trilogy of Hobbit was also a box office success, despite lukewarm reviews.
