The situation around the Zaporijia nuclear power plant, occupied by Russian forces in Ukraine, worries the international atomic energy agency, which has noted the presence of anti-personnel mines in this risk zone.

The International Atomic Energy Agency still has concerns about the Zaporizhia nuclear power plant, occupied by Russian forces in Ukraine. “During a visit two days ago, the agency noted the presence of anti-personnel mines in the area around this plant. It indicates that there is no danger for the installations, nor for the personnel who do not have access to this area”explain Ben Barnier, special envoy to Odessa (Ukraine), Tuesday July 25.

No alert was given

“The other worrying situation comes from information given by the Ukrainian nuclear operator: the Russian team which operates this plant would have initiated a procedure to urgently switch off, hot, one of the units”, continues the journalist. This emergency procedure is denounced by the Ukrainian authorities. For the moment, no alert has been given to the population.
