(Foxborough) Canadian quarterback Nathan Rourke is officially back with the New England Patriots.
The NFL club announced that Rourke had agreed to a one-year deal on Wednesday, without specifying financial details. Several rumors circulated earlier this month indicating that the former star quarterback of the British Columbia Lions had ratified an exclusive agreement as a free agent with the Patriots.
They claimed the six-foot-one, 210-pound player off waivers from the Jacksonville Jaguars last December.
It’s unclear where Rourke will fit in the Patriots’ quarterback hierarchy. They recently traded their former starting quarterback Mac Jones to the Jaguars, before offering a one-year deal to free agent Jacoby Brissett.
Brissett was a third-round pick of the Patriots in the 2016 NFL Draft, and he spent his rookie season with the Foxborough club before being traded to the Indianapolis Colts ahead of the 2017 season. took part in three Washington Commanders games last season.
The Patriots also have the third pick in the 2024 NFL Draft, and they are expected to select a quarterback.
