It would seem that Netflix is having a particularly difficult year 2022. The platform has to deal with big Hollywood barons who have deserted its catalog to launch their own online streaming service. It is obvious that not all of these platforms will survive, but that will not mean the death knell for their parent companies, especially if they are of these great Hollywood barons. […]
The possible rout of Netflix would, in my opinion, be an opportunity to qualify all this discourse around disruption, around disruptive technologies. Yes, Kodak and Sears fell apart by not going digital. Yes, Blockbuster disappeared while Netflix turned its postal rental service into an online streaming service. However, no, Netflix will not take over Hollywood.
This leads me to another prediction about another industry currently facing disruptive technology. Cryptocurrencies will not dethrone traditional financial institutions. On the contrary, we will see a standardization through the adoption of this technology by these institutions. The changes generated by disruptive technologies are not always so radical.
