Neolithic furniture discovered in Vaures, Bergerac

In Bergerac, the excavation of the Vaures site, led by Pierrick Fouéré and a team from INRAP, revealed the existence, through the remains of postholes, of more than thirty Neolithic buildings. Spread over approximately two hectares, some of these buildings overlap, which testifies to changes in the organization of the village. And here and there, human occupation is found through the furniture…

Bergerac and its surroundings are well known for having been a place of production of high quality flint during prehistory. The Vaures site is no exception to the rule, in addition to the discovery of a few arrowheads and ceramic debris.
