Nelly Furtado hosts the Junos

(Toronto) Nelly Furtado’s gradual return to the pop scene continues: she will host the next Juno Awards gala on March 24 in Halifax.

Furtado, 44, will host this celebration of Canadian music for the second time. In 2007, in Saskatoon, she hosted the gala, but also won five Junos, including the prestigious awards for album and artist of the year.

The Juno gala program currently includes Quebecer Charlotte Cardin, who won four awards two years ago, and Toronto rock quartet The Beaches, who recently gained popularity on social networks with Blame Brett.

Victoria native Nelly Furtado is making a gradual return to the spotlight after several years out of the spotlight – and the relaunch comes with a well-developed strategy.

Over the summer, she appeared as a backing vocalist on DJ/producer Dom Dolla’s play, Eat Your Manwhere she sang subtle references to her past hits Say It Right And Maneater.

She followed up with the sunny pop song Keep Going Upwhich reunited her with Justin Timberlake and Timbaland, the producer of her hit 2006 album Loose. The trio had already recorded success together Give It to Me.

Furtado is also putting the finishing touches on a new album.
